Fly Fisher

Date Placed: August 2, 2009
Letterbox: Traditional
Carver: GreenJello
Planters: GreenJello and Teancum
Location: Vivian Park, Provo Canyon, Utah, Utah

Provo River is known as one of the best trout fishing rivers in the United States. Brown trout up to two feet long are regularly caught along this river.

Directions: From I-15, take the Orem 800 North exit (#272). Head east off the exit. Follow 800 North until you're almost to the mountains; take the left lane when the road splits to head up Provo Canyon. Follow the signs to Vivian Park (a little less than 6 miles up the canyon).

To locate the fisherman, park and go find the Provo Canyon Parkway. Follow the railroad tracks to the end of the line. Cross the bridge. Immediately to your left will be some large rocks. Move some smaller rocks out from underneath the largest rock, and you will find the box tucked up underneath.

  1. I am so excited to find your blog. Our family have been finding letterboxes for the past 3 years or so. This last week we found 7 along our vacation route through Idaho. I'm so glad that you are placing them close to our home and so recently. It is frustrating to go searching and have them missing. Expect to see us finding some very soon.

  2. We went to this one along with another along the trail. Our kids had a blast walking along the railroad tracks. These adventures really help make our summer fun. And, we love the interesting stamps. So, clever!

  3. My children had so much fun searching for the boxes. Your stamps are great! We were a little confused on the directions with this one. We were not sure whether to go east or west along the railroad tracks and then decided that the "Provo Canyon Parkway" sign must be the "Provo River Parkway" sign listed to follow. After that it was easy to find. Thanks!
